Time: 6pm - 10 pm

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
The game is played by acting and improvising in a social setting while also exploring the building around you. You can search for clues and objects, unlock chests, and use skills and powers which may be assigned to you.
First, you receive your role.
You are given a description of who your character is, what they want to achieve, and what faction their allegiances lie with. But the rest -- name, costume, personality, quirks, actions and decisions -- the rest is up to you.
Then, we search.
All players get into character. We meet one another. We play. We lie. We explore. We try to uncover who has hidden motives which may act against our own as we uncover the story of the evening.
We feast.
Together, we sit down to a meal, in character, and dine.
Lastly, we escape.
After the meal is complete, the allegiances, lies, and betrayal which wove together before dinner come to a head, and all players must decide who to work with and who to trust -- or not -- if they want to escape and survive.
Who will win? It may be everybody, it may be nobody, or it may be the select few who play their cards right to escape and survive.
To most of the world, knowledge would appear to fit neatly into two distinct categories.
On one hand, there is the mundane. The physical. Following strict natural laws. Chemistry, physics, engineering.
On the other hand, there is the spiritual. The transcendental. The heavenly sphere presided over by priests, artists, and psychics.
While understanding of both the material and the metaphysical have both advanced throughout the years, they have remained profoundly separate since the Enlightenment.
However, earlier this year those fields may have finally merged. In the greatest technological and theological discovery of all time, the brilliant visionary Maxwell Bucks, working hand in hand with renowned inventor and engineer Isaac Twelvehawks and the famous philosopher and innovator Douglas Whizbanger, had announced that they have produced the world's first aetheric manipulator. They claim to have blended hard science with the supernatural, but details were never revealed before the team’s high profile falling out as disagreements arose over how to use the new discoveries.
While the global scientific and spiritual communities are still grappling with what full implications of such a machine might mean, the three visionaries have spent months in the news bickering over the details of their schism or in seclusion avoiding the public spotlight.
Just today, a small cadre of select leaders in their fields received an unexpected and enigmatic invitation from the three former colleagues to visit Bucks’ private island to get the first hands-on look at the technology that could shape the future of our world.
While little else is known at this time, the public waits with bated breath on the words of those famous few as they venture forth into the unknown.
How is the game played?
This is a live action roleplaying game, which incorporates aspects of a murder mystery dinner or an escape room. Each player receives a character to play as for the evening. The team hosting the game will be Non-Player Characters, still immersing you in the experience, while not competing with you. As your character, you have two goals which you are trying to complete. These goals may be different than those of other characters and players. You may choose to reveal these goals to your fellow players or you may not, but be warned -- they might be trying to accomplish something very different than you in order to survive the night, win the game, and escape!
The game is played by acting and improvising in a social setting while also exploring the building around you. You can search for clues and objects, unlock chests, and use skills and powers which may be assigned to you. The game is won when you survive, escape, and complete your goal.
You can acquaint yourself with the rules using the Player's Handbook. However, the game is designed to teach you the rules as you play!
Can more than one person win?
Absolutely. You win the game by surviving and escaping. Sometimes multiple people will win. Sometimes only a handful will win. Sometimes nobody will win. It is up to the players to try to escape and survive -- and whether others will succeed with you or despite you.
Do I need to dress up?
No, costumes are not required, but costuming is always encouraged! Many players thoroughly enjoy the immersion of the costuming experience.
We highly encourage you to wear an outfit with pockets, bring a bag/purse, or have some other means of carrying items collected during the game with you.
If I come with a friend, will we get to play together?
Absolutely. When you register, both you and your friend should indicate that you want to play together. Our team will assign your roles as best we can so your characters can work together during the game. This doesn't mean your characters won't have secret goals and motives, though. You never know who to trust and whose motives lie where during the Feast of Betrayal...
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
$25 per player. You can pay online via Paypal (prompted at the end of registration) or at the event with cash.
What does my registration get me?
For your $25, you get a place in the game with a pre-written role, a dinner, and a fun souvenir from the game to bring home.
Where does the game take place?
At the Washburn Cultural Center, 1 E Bayfield Street, Washburn, WI. We use three floors of the building to play the game -- the lobby, the basement, and the community space on the top floor. All three floors are connected by two stairwells and an elevator.
How do I know who my character is?
Before the game or upon arrival, you will be provided a card with a pre-written character specifically for this game. Your character card will include a short description of your character's backstory, their "role" in the story, their motivations, and two primary goals which they are trying to accomplish throughout the game. The name, costuming, manner of speech, mannerisms, and quirks is all up to you!
What is the vibe of the game?
Feast of Betrayal is meant to be first and foremost: fun. The game is always campy and silly, but with an edge of distrust that will keep you checking over your shoulder.
How often does the game occur?
February 2025 will be our very first Feast of Betrayal game! We hope to launch more stories, not on a regular schedule, at a future time. Perhaps twice per year.
Why the name change?
From 2017 to 2020, many of the same people involved in bringing you Feast of Betrayal also ran a very similar game in the same location. When we decided to start a new game, we wanted to take all the things we learned, but also provide a better experience with elevated production values, a catered meal, more streamlined and easy to learn gameplay, and a less frequent game schedule. We decided that a new name was appropriate for a new chapter.
Feast of Betrayal will be very similar to the previous game, but with a few key differences:
1) We will charge a small entrance fee
2) We will feed you a catered meal (no more potlucks)
3) We will run the game only occasionally, as is sustainable for us
4) We are trying to make a better, more quality, more accessible game
If you had fun at HM, we know you'll love Feast of Betrayal even more.
